Jim Gibbon

Prior to founding Muirfield Consultants, Jim spent 18 years with General Electric in the Energy and O&G sectors. Rising to Executive level, leading large commercial operations and sales teams, including the challenge of leading large global teams with locations from China and South Korea to Brazil, Mexico and the U.S. In addition to commercial leadership, Jim has also led significant organisational change and integration programs including the European commercial integration of Alstom Power in to GE. This involved creating the organisation structure, process alignment, communications plan and roll out across the 400+ European commercial staff, owning and delivering on both the cost and growth synergies targets.

Academically, he holds an MBA from University Of Abertay and is based in Dundee, Scotland. Jim has been home officed since 2004, but very mobile and has deep experience of remote working and relationship building with regular visits to sites as required.

GE Power

  • Commercial integration leader post Alstom Power acquisition ($12B acquisition)
  • Create 400 person matrix org across 15 countries covering multiple technologies
  • Led the communication and roll out plan presenting in all country hub locations
  • Worked with local HR partners on international Works Council requirements & comms
  • Created and led the commercial workflow delivering on synergies plan

GE O&G

  • Integrated Dresser business into GE O&G
  • Created organisation, then led, 80 strong international commercial team
  • Developed Commercial Playbook covering all commercial and risk requirements
  • Led the process roll out program, chaired & owned the region risk review

GE Measurement & Control

  • Merged 5 existing businesses into one single business segment
  • Created 180 person international organisation
  • Merged the leadership team delivering on span and layers targets
  • Led the commercial team, owned the bid production machine and risk review
